GMDA repairs leaks on 18-km Gurugram pipeline; Sector 72 supply due in a month

More than 30 leaks on an 18-km master water pipeline have been repaired, and GMDA has begun storing water at Gurugram’s Sector 72 boosting station.

The pipeline runs from the Chandu Budhera water treatment plant to Sector 72. HSVP laid it in 2012, but it remained unused after the Dwarka Expressway alignment changed and the line had to be shifted along Central Peripheral Road. GMDA has since laid the missing section beneath the expressway.

GMDA will next clean the station’s 50-MLD storage tank and test its distribution network before starting residential supply, which it expects within a month.

The 283-MLD pumping station is intended to augment water supply to Sectors 58-80, which currently depend on the Sector 51 boosting station, as well as Gwal Pahari and surrounding areas. Repairs continue near Vatika Chowk at the pipeline’s end point. GMDA says the station will reduce pressure on Sector 51 and support supply in Sectors 51-57.
