GMDA to inspect Gurugram water pipeline after 3.5-metre section found missing

GMDA will conduct a CCTV inspection of a Gurugram water pipeline after it found a 3.5-metre section missing during testing near the Central Peripheral Road.

The inspection will cover the stretch between the NH-48 cloverleaf and Almeida Chowk and will include leakage tests. The Chandu Budhera–Vatika Chowk pipeline is required to make the Sector 72 water boosting station operational.

GMDA said it has tested about 15 km of the 20-km pipeline and repaired 23 leaks. Officials said repairing the entire line is expected to take another two months. They said defects identified in June at Elan Mall, a CNG pump in Sector 36, the Sector 37D service road, Ramprastha City, a railway crossing, Pareena Society and the CPR junction have been repaired.

GMDA said the boosting station is expected to improve water supply in Sectors 58 to 71, which it described as underserved. The pipeline contract was awarded in December 2012 with a completion target of 21 months, but land-acquisition litigation delayed the project.
