Gol Gumbad on Lodhi Road: a small Delhi monument

Gol Gumbad stands beside Lodhi Road, amid the movement of cars, autos, commuters and cyclists. Its pale yellow walls, broad dome and square form sit close to a traffic circle, flyover and cycle track.

The compound is open, while the iron gate to the structure is locked. From outside, a recessed arch frames two red sandstone *jaali* windows, placed one above the other. The latticework allows daylight into the chamber.

The monument is on a route that connects several well-known heritage sites in Delhi, including Lodhi Garden, Safdarjung’s Tomb and Humayun’s Tomb. Its location makes it accessible to people travelling along Lodhi Road, though entry inside the structure is currently restricted.
