Gurgaon DDMA advises against non-essential travel after heavy rain

Manesar recorded 64mm of rain between 8am and 3pm as a second straight day of heavy showers left several parts of Gurgaon waterlogged.

Waterlogging was reported in sectors 3, 5, 10, 14 and 31, and along Sohna Road, Sheetla Mata Mandir Road and Old Delhi-Gurgaon Road. Sohna received 52mm during the same period, while Kadipur and Harsaru logged 39mm each.

The District Disaster Management Authority advised residents to avoid non-essential travel and not attempt to cross flooded stretches. Its advisory asked people to stay away from underpasses, low-lying areas, trees, electric poles and overhead wires during thunderstorms. It was circulated to GMDA, MCG, police, traffic police and education authorities.

Sushant Sharma, a Sector 47 resident, said the advisory placed the burden on residents rather than addressing Gurgaon’s recurring monsoon drainage problems.

Gurgaon KVK recorded a maximum temperature of 27.3°C, down from 32.5°C a day earlier. The IMD has forecast light to moderate rain, thunderstorms and lightning in Haryana on Sunday, with isolated heavy showers possible.
