Gurgaon gets two deputed food safety officers for up to 180 days

Dr Manoj Kumar and Dr Deepak, both veterinary surgeons, have been posted to the Gurgaon-I and Gurgaon-II food safety officer posts for up to 180 days.

The Haryana Food and Drugs Administration has deputed 22 officers across the state to strengthen food-safety inspections before the festival season. The Gurgaon deputations will end earlier if regular food safety officers join. The deputed officers will receive no additional remuneration.

Until now, the food safety officer based in Rewari had also held charge of Gurgaon, Faridabad, Nuh and Sonipat. Faridabad has received two deputed officers: Inder Pal for Faridabad-I and Dr Ashwani Kumar for Faridabad-II.

Haryana has 45 sanctioned food safety officer posts. The health department said five officers were actively working in the field, while 11 deputed officers awaited posting and another 11 awaited FSSAI certification after completing on-the-job training on August 19.

Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao said the state sent a request to the Haryana Public Service Commission on August 12 to fill all 45 posts. The regular recruitment process is expected to take about a year.
