Gurgaon officials told to speed up voter-roll hearings and checks

Divisional Commissioner Ravi Prakash Gupta has directed Gurgaon election officials to avoid delays as the special intensive revision of electoral rolls enters its notice, hearing and document-verification stage.

Voters who receive notices must have an opportunity to present their case. Officials will check supporting documents against available records before deciding claims or objections. Gupta directed officials to conduct notices and hearings simultaneously and within Election Commission timelines.

He asked political parties to support booth-level officers through booth-level agents during verification. Officials aim to prevent ineligible names from remaining on the rolls while ensuring eligible residents are not excluded.

Deputy Commissioner Uttam Singh has asked the education department to coordinate with institutions across the district to identify students who have turned, or will turn, 18 by July 1. They will be assisted with Form 6 applications for new voter registration.

Residents omitted from the draft roll can seek inclusion by August 30. Election registration officers and SDMs from Badshahpur, Pataudi, Gurgaon and Sohna reviewed pending cases and hearing preparations.
