Gurgaon plans six air-quality stations in Basai, Sector 29 and universities

Haryana State Pollution Control Board officials said six new air-quality monitoring stations are expected to be installed across Gurgaon by December.

The proposed locations are Maharana Pratap Swaran Jayanti Park in Sector 29, the Basai water treatment plant, Tau Devi Lal Park in Sector 22, SGT University, KR Mangalam University and Starex University.

Board officials said they selected the sites after a 5 x 5 grid analysis and consultations with the Central Pollution Control Board. The stations are planned at least 5 km apart to capture pollution levels across rural, semi-urban, residential and industrial areas.

Gurgaon currently has operational stations at TERI Gram, Gwal Pahari, Vikas Sadan, Sector 51 and the HSIIDC building in Manesar. The TERI Gram station is planned to shift to Bhondsi because it is close to Gwal Pahari.

Haryana’s principal adviser for urban development, DS Dhesi, has directed the board to install the new stations on time and ensure they function effectively.
