Gurgaon warms past 34°C after a cooler, rainier weekend

Gurgaon’s maximum temperature reached 35°C at NorthCap University on Monday, more than 6°C higher than the 28.5°C recorded there a day earlier.

Gurgaon KVK recorded a maximum of 34°C, compared with 28.1°C on Sunday. The minimum temperature edged down to 24.6°C from 24.8°C.

The India Meteorological Department expects temperatures to rise gradually through the week, with daytime readings likely to remain above 33°C. No weather warning has been issued for Haryana, though scattered rain is forecast in parts of the state until September 11. Light to moderate rain, thunderstorms and lightning may occur at isolated locations, and temperatures are expected to stay relatively high between spells.

Gurgaon has already received 57 mm of rain in the first seven days of September, against a normal 34 mm—68% above normal for the period. A low-pressure system over central Uttar Pradesh, a trough extending from south Gujarat and a western disturbance over Kashmir are influencing weather conditions across north India.
