Gurgaon dengue cases reach 24; Haryana tally at 147

Gurgaon had recorded 24 dengue cases this year as of August 20, behind Jhajjar, which had logged 28 cases.

The two districts accounted for 52 of Haryana’s 147 reported cases, or about 35% of the state total. Government hospitals recorded 87 cases and private hospitals recorded 60. Haryana had not reported a confirmed dengue death this year.

Five dengue patients were admitted to hospitals as of August 20. Another 57 patients who required hospital care had been discharged, while 85 were treated as outpatients. Faridabad had reported six cases.

Dr Tushar Tayal, associate director of internal medicine at CK Birla Hospital in Gurgaon, said patient numbers remained within the expected range and the hospital had not seen an unusual increase in severe illness. He advised residents to empty stagnant water from containers and coolers, and to use repellents and full-sleeved clothing to reduce mosquito exposure.

Gurgaon’s tally had risen by 11 cases from 13 reported earlier this month.
