Gurugram agencies begin month-long drive to clear encroachments

The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority, Municipal Corporation of Gurugram and Municipal Corporation of Manesar have begun a month-long enforcement drive against encroachments on public land, roads, footpaths and green belts.

In Old Gurugram, GMDA teams cleared obstructions from Old Railway Road, the Sector 3A/4 dividing road, and the Sector 4/7 and Sector 4/9 dividing roads. The action included the removal of unauthorised ramps over footpaths and road margins, vending carts, kiosks and other temporary structures. GMDA said the aim was to restore right of way and improve movement for pedestrians and vehicles.

MCG demolished 31 structures it described as unauthorised in DPG Colony, Sector 34, Ryan Enclave in Bhondsi, Ashok Vihar-2, Krishna Colony, Sector 69, the restricted area around the ammunition depot and Bhimgarh Kheri. The civic body said it would also clear encroachments from roads and footpaths during the campaign.

In Manesar, MCM removed more than 100 kiosks, tea stalls and other structures from green belts and public land along the Rampura village-Hayatpur road and the stretch from Dwarka Expressway towards Kankrola village. MCM has asked people planning construction to obtain municipal approval for building plans.
