Gurugram, Faridabad curb Delhi-bound heavy vehicles for Independence Day

Delhi-bound heavy and medium goods vehicles, along with interstate buses in Faridabad, will face temporary curbs around the Independence Day full-dress rehearsal and celebrations.

In Gurugram, heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter Delhi through NH-48 from 5pm on August 12 until 1.30pm on August 13. The same restriction will return from 5pm on August 14 to 1.30pm on August 15. Gurugram traffic police have asked transporters to use the Dwarka Expressway and Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway instead of NH-48 during these periods.

Faridabad will restrict Delhi-bound heavy and medium goods vehicles, along with interstate buses, from 8pm on August 12 to 1pm on August 13. A second round of restrictions will begin at 8pm on August 14 and continue until the Independence Day programme ends on August 15.

The Faridabad restrictions cover approaches including the Badarpur and Palla borders, the Karni Singh Shooting Range and Surajkund borders, Mangar Chowki, Sikri on NH-19, and the Sector 30 cut on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. Vehicles will be diverted before they reach these border areas.

Ambulances, fire tenders and police vehicles are exempt. Vehicles carrying milk, fruit, vegetables, essential food items, medicines, medical supplies and fuel will also be permitted. Transporters have been asked to alert drivers in advance; violations can invite action under the Motor Vehicles Act.
