Gurugram sets Rs 50-per-tonne doorstep C&D waste pickup fee

Gurugram residents clearing renovation debris can book doorstep collection of construction and demolition (C&D) waste for Rs 50 per tonne after the MCG House approved the revised fee.

The rate applies to non-bulk waste generators, including households. Earlier, collection cost Rs 360 per tonne for segregated waste and Rs 720 per tonne for unsegregated waste. People taking waste directly to the Basai facility paid Rs 205 per tonne. Bulk generators will continue to be charged Rs 360 per tonne.

Residents must submit pickup details through MCG’s C&D Waste Management Portal, pay the fee and generate a challan. The corporation plans to register local transporters on the portal so users can choose from listed pickup providers.

Additional Commissioner Yash Jaluka said the lower rate is intended to make authorised disposal more affordable and reduce dumping at unauthorised sites. The Basai plant has been asked to attend pickup requests within 48 hours. A challan generated for a pickup request will be valid for 24 hours.

MCG has 12 C&D waste collection points in the city. The Basai plant is authorised to process 300 metric tonnes a day, and a proposal to increase its capacity is awaiting approval from the urban local bodies department.
