Gurugram generated 1,500 tonnes of C&D waste a day in 2024-25

Gurugram generated about 1,500 tonnes of construction and demolition waste each day in 2024-25, while around 300 tonnes was collected, according to the Haryana State Pollution Control Board’s annual review.

The district’s estimated daily generation accounted for nearly 70% of Haryana’s total of about 2,150 tonnes. Faridabad generated about 300 tonnes a day and collected 150 tonnes. Across Haryana, daily collection stood at roughly 680 tonnes, while statewide processing capacity was 546.7 metric tonnes.

Gurugram has four operational C&D waste storage sites and plans 20 under its clean city action plan. The remaining 16 sites are proposed by the end of 2026. The board said Gurugram, Rewari, Ambala and Kaithal were the only districts to report using dedicated recycling or processing sites for such debris.

Eleven districts reported landfilling C&D waste at 96 low-lying areas and other sites across Haryana. The state landfilled 6,148.11 tonnes in 2024-25. HSPCB directed municipal corporations to ensure builders and private contractors follow disposal rules.
