Gurugram market roads remain waterlogged; MCG plans upgrades

Savita Devi said water was still standing in Sector 46 market 48 hours after rain, collecting around potholes and making it difficult for pedestrians to reach shops for essentials.

Residents in Sectors 10, 14, 22A, 23 and 46 have reported broken roads, damaged or encroached footpaths, poor sanitation and garbage dumping in their local markets. In Sector 23, Aditi Gupta said a road built six to eight months ago had already developed potholes and waterlogged during rain.

Ward councillor Pradeep Padam said drainage problems and water accumulation had damaged the repaired stretch in Sector 23. He said an estimate to rebuild the road has been prepared and a tender will follow once it is approved.

Sector 46 councillor Pratham Chandra Vashisht said market repair work would begin shortly and projected that road repairs would be completed within four months. An MCG official said upgrades planned after the monsoon include walkways, parking, roads and public toilets.
