Gurugram may see a wetter spell from August 14 as rain forecast builds

Gurugram is expected to see a more sustained wet spell later this week, with the India Meteorological Department forecasting light to moderate rain at many places in the district on August 14 and 15.

The district is also covered by a warning for heavy rain at isolated places. Faridabad, Rohtak, Sonipat, Panipat, Jhajjar, Kurukshetra, Kaithal and Karnal are included in the same warning, while Panchkula, Ambala and Yamunanagar could receive heavy to very heavy rain at isolated locations.

Gurugram recorded 1mm of rainfall between 8.30am and 5.30pm, alongside a maximum temperature of 30.7°C, 2.8°C lower than the previous day. Minimum temperatures recorded at local stations ranged from 25.8°C to 27.4°C.

The forecast indicates light to moderate rain at many places on August 12, followed by isolated rainfall on August 13. Rain activity is expected to pick up again on August 14 and 15, while light to moderate rain may continue at a few places on August 16 and 17.

For residents, the wetter conditions could mean slower commutes, waterlogging on vulnerable roads and the need to plan outdoor work or travel around short, intense showers. The current pattern is linked to the monsoon trough and a low-pressure area over northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining regions.
