Gurugram orders work from home, online classes after heavy rain

Gurugram’s District Disaster Management Authority has directed corporate offices, government departments and educational institutions to work from home and hold online classes on Tuesday after heavy rain on Monday.

The authority said keeping non-essential vehicles off the road will allow civic agencies to clear drains, pump out accumulated water and carry out urgent road repairs on major routes affected by the rain.

The district information and public relations officer has been asked to circulate the directions widely. The district education officer and district elementary education officer will communicate the order to government and private school administrations. Students and staff have been asked to remain indoors while repair work continues.

The order does not specify changes to essential services or transport operations.
