Gurugram panel targets six crash-prone spots after 23 deaths

Six identified road-safety black spots in Gurugram recorded about 42 crashes, including 32 fatal crashes, and 23 deaths between 2023 and 2025.

The District Road Safety Committee reviewed the sites after August inspections by traffic police, the Traffic Engineering Centre and road-safety experts. Two locations are in Naharpur, with one each in Khandsa, Narsinghpur, near Manesar Bus Stand and at Bilaspur Chowk.

At Naharpur, Khandsa and Narsinghpur, inspectors found poor access to foot-overbridges was pushing pedestrians onto main carriageways, shoulders and kerbs. They also noted poorly maintained diverging cuts near the Khandsa FOB and wrong-way movement on service lanes near the Narsinghpur FOB.

The committee has recommended that NHAI shift entry and exit points away from the Narsinghpur FOB, increase space between highway merging points, add signs and road markings in Naharpur, and create safer pedestrian approaches to FOBs. NHAI officials are to take up design changes and traffic-calming measures.

At Manesar Bus Stand and Bilaspur Chowk, where flyovers are being built, traffic police flagged gaps in road-safety guidelines. NHAI said it has installed signs along a 1,220-metre construction stretch at Manesar and deployed marshals for crossings.
