Gurugram roads stay waterlogged for hours after 75mm overnight rain

Gurugram received 75mm of overnight rain, leaving several major roads waterlogged well into the morning and triggering power outages across residential areas.

Water accumulated at Tulip Chowk’s 60-metre road, the Airia Mall stretch on Sohna Road, Hero Honda Chowk, Rajiv Chowk underpass, Sector 66 service road, Civil Hospital Road, Sector 10A, parts of Sectors 9, 14 and 15 Part 2, and Narsinghpur. At Sector 10, commuter Reema Khatri said water had reached knee level at 11am, making the road difficult to cross for motorists and pedestrians.

GMDA staff and workers were deployed to pump water from affected locations, including Tulip Chowk. The city has faced similar rain-linked disruption before, including power outages across Gurugram.

Residents in Sushant Lok-1, 2 and 3, Sectors 52, 57, 71, 99, 102 and 103, and DLF Phases 1, 2 and 3 reported outages of up to five hours. In Delhi, 6.5mm of early-morning rain caused little disruption. The IMD has forecast light spells over the next few days, with cloudy skies and maximum temperatures between 33°C and 36°C.
