Gurugram’s new five-year garbage collection contract calls for 857 vehicles

Gurugram’s next door-to-door garbage collection contract will require 857 vehicles across two city clusters. The operators must deploy half their fleets in the first month and the full fleet in the second.

BVG India Limited has been selected for Cluster I and Delhi MSW Solution for Cluster II after the Haryana government’s high-powered purchase committee cleared the arrangement on Friday. The five-year project is estimated at ₹647.78 crore: ₹327.51 crore for Cluster I and ₹320.27 crore for Cluster II. It can be extended by two years if the tender conditions are met.

The agencies will collect waste from homes, apartments, shops, offices, street vendors and bulk waste generators. They will move waste from secondary collection points to the Bandhwari landfill and must install compaction machines before transport, MCG officials said.

Mayor Raj Rani Malhotra said the earlier stopgap operators deployed about 300 to 350 vehicles against a requirement of 591.

Fresh waste will continue to go to Bandhwari until MCG identifies new land and installs processing plants.
