Noida International Airport passage floods after rain, cleared in 30 minutes

Heavy rain sent water pooling through the pedestrian passage linking Noida International Airport’s terminal, parking area and taxi stand on Tuesday afternoon, prompting staff to deploy pumps and temporarily divert traffic.

The forecourt, below the departure kerbside road, was ankle-deep in water. A travelator in the passage was switched off as passengers moved through the wet area. People being picked up were directed to the terminal kerbside during the diversion.

Airport officials said the water was cleared within about 30 minutes and no flights were disrupted. RK Singh, chief executive of the Yamuna Expressway Authority, said the runway and apron were not affected; water had collected on the parking-area side of the facility.

Noida recorded 27mm of rain on Tuesday. Airport management said it was investigating the incident and would take corrective action where needed.
