Heavy vehicles barred on Varthur-Gunjur SH-35 during peak hours

Heavy goods vehicles are barred from entering the Varthur-Gunjur stretch of SH-35 from 7am to 11am, 1pm to 3pm and 4pm to 9pm.

Whitefield traffic police expanded the restriction from the earlier 7am-to-11am window, citing congestion during school-bus and peak travel hours on the east Bengaluru corridor. Police identified the narrow carriageway and several T-junctions on the route as traffic choke points.

Enforcement teams are stopping trucks and other heavy vehicles at entry points during the restricted periods. Police said some vehicles had entered the corridor before the curbs began.

Police said the restrictions will continue until traffic movement improves substantially and the road is widened to handle current traffic volumes.
