Home guard killed, sub-inspector dies in separate Ghaziabad highway crashes
Two crashes in Ghaziabad late Wednesday and early Thursday killed a home guard and a sub-inspector, while a constable and four other people were injured.
A Thar allegedly hit a Noida police patrol motorcycle from behind on NH-9 near Crossings Republik around 11.15pm on Wednesday, killing home guard Kapil Kumar and injuring constable Praveen Kumar. Hours later, a Maruti Swift carrying a police party collided with a tanker on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway near Lal Kuan, where sub-inspector Upendra Kumar later died during treatment.
A home guard was killed and a constable injured after a Thar allegedly struck their police patrol motorcycle from behind on NH-9 near Crossings Republik late Wednesday night.
The motorcycle, part of a Noida police Dial 112 response unit, was travelling towards Gaur City 2 when the collision took place at about 11.15pm. Home guard Kapil Kumar, 40, died during treatment, while constable Praveen Kumar, 36, was reported stable. Crossings Republik police have registered an FIR, arrested the 34-year-old SUV driver and seized the vehicle.
In a separate crash around 5am Thursday, a Maruti Swift travelling on the Ghaziabad-Meerut carriageway of the Delhi-Meerut Expressway collided with a tanker near Lal Kuan. The car was carrying six people, including a police party, and all were injured. Sub-inspector Upendra Kumar, 59, later died during treatment; the other injured occupants are receiving treatment.
