HRERA Gurugram gives eligible realty projects four more months to finish

Homebuyers in eligible Gurugram projects may now wait four months longer for completion after HRERA Gurugram granted a blanket extension to project timelines.

The order applies to projects registered with the authority on or before July 31, 2026, where the completion date, revised completion date or an already extended deadline falls on or after February 28, 2026. Developers do not need to file individual applications; the extension takes effect automatically.

HRERA said the West Asia crisis had disrupted global supply chains and created shortages of key construction materials, affecting the pace of housing work. It has classified those disruptions as force majeure, a provision under the real-estate law for exceptional circumstances beyond a developer’s control.

Projects registered after July 31 will not qualify. HRERA officials said the move is expected to cover hundreds of projects that remain under construction or are yet to receive occupancy or completion certificates.

The Union housing ministry had advised state real-estate regulators on July 31 to consider timeline extensions over the supply disruption. Maharashtra and Telangana have also granted four-month extensions.
