HSPCB meets 170 Gurugram builders over dust-control checks

About 170 representatives of construction projects in Gurugram met Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) officials on Monday as the board prepared to inspect sites for dust-control compliance.

The review covered projects larger than 500 square metres. Commission for Air Quality Management directions require these sites to use measures including live-monitoring cameras, video fencing and regular self-audits. Officials reviewed the status of web cameras, self-audit reports and fortnightly certifications uploaded to the HSPCB dust portal.

HSPCB will carry out physical inspections and issue notices to sites that do not meet the requirements. Inspectors will check wind barriers, dust screens, sprinklers, dust suppressants and whether construction and demolition waste is transported in covered vehicles. The board will also list sites where cameras are switched off.

As of Monday, the portal recorded 781 registered sites in Gurugram North, with 6,196 self-audit reports, and 622 sites in Gurugram South, with 5,369 reports. HSPCB plans to begin inspections in September.
