HSPCB seizes 1,912 kg of prohibited plastic on Daultabad Road

The Haryana State Pollution Control Board seized 1,912 kg of prohibited plastic from a trading company on Daultabad Road during an August 21 enforcement drive in Gurugram.

HSPCB’s Gurugram Region (North) team inspected the Daultabad Industrial Area for the use, storage and distribution of prohibited plastic. Officials said the material seized from the company did not comply with applicable rules. Assistant environmental engineer Kamesh and junior environmental engineer Raghvender were part of the inspection team.

A day earlier, HSPCB held an awareness programme at Kisan Bhawan for shopkeepers, vegetable vendors and other market-community members. Officials spoke about penalties for violations, waste segregation and alternatives to single-use plastic, and distributed jute bags.

“Awareness and enforcement have to go hand in hand to reduce the use of single-use plastic,” said Akansha Tanwar, regional officer, HSPCB-North, Gurugram.
