IIT Delhi innovation summit opens with agriculture and healthcare sessions

Student-led, women-led and rural ventures were among the exhibitors as IIT Delhi’s Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer opened its annual innovation summit.

The two-day gathering has brought researchers, entrepreneurs, industry leaders, investors and policymakers to the campus, with agriculture and healthcare at the centre of its programme. Founders at the opening technology expo presented products and discussed how laboratory research can reach commercial use.

One session examined the infrastructure, research network and investment needed to build indigenous artificial-intelligence technologies. Another considered whether government and industry procurement can help products move beyond the prototype stage.

Agriculture featured under the theme “Engineering the Future of Agriculture”, with participants discussing engineering-led solutions that can be deployed in the sector. Manufacturing and semiconductors were also on the agenda, and selected startups presented their technologies and business models.

The second day is set to cover healthcare, biotechnology, space technology and sportstech, alongside an international dialogue on links between India’s innovation ecosystem and global institutions.
