Indirapuram roads turn slushy after drizzle disrupts repairs

Light drizzle and cloudy skies have left several dug-up stretches of Indirapuram muddy, with residents and commuters reporting waterlogged parking spaces, stagnant puddles and narrowed roads.

In Shipra Sun City, a visitor said her car tyres sank into mud in a parking area after rainwater collected around nearby pathways. Residents said repair trenches had been covered with loose soil before the rain, making the surface difficult to cross once wet.

Commuters also reported reduced road space near the Canal Road–Kanawani bridge junction. One commuter said waste near a municipal segregation centre was contributing to a foul smell. Drainage and repair work have narrowed parts of the road to a single lane, slowing traffic as drivers avoid damaged stretches.

The Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation said it had drained several waterlogged spots. An official said staff deployed for the Kanwar Yatra would return to their respective zones from Wednesday. The official cited ageing infrastructure, a bitumen shortage and excess rainfall as factors affecting repair work.
