Mumbai Janmashtami: ISKCON Chowpatty plans 10,000 litres of charnamrit

ISKCON Chowpatty plans to prepare around 10,000 litres of charnamrit for its Janmashtami midnight abhishek on September 4.

The temple has decorated its premises as a Vrindavan grove, using parrots, pomegranates and greenery in the display. Milk, curd and fruit juices will be used for the charnamrit, which will be distributed to devotees. A chhappan bhog offering is planned in the afternoon, followed by 108 bhog items at night.

At ISKCON Juhu, Janmashtami programmes will run on September 3 and 4, followed by Nand Utsav and Vyas Puja on September 5. The midnight programme includes maha abhishek, maha aarti, kalash abhishek and chhappan bhog. Prasad meals are scheduled on all three days, and new outfits will be offered to the temple’s ten deities.
