Jewellery association seeks land for Bengaluru mega jewellery park

The Karnataka Jewellery Association has again sought land for a mega jewellery park in Bengaluru, four years after the project was announced in the 2022-23 state budget.

Association president and JD(S) MLC T A Sharavana, along with other office-bearers, met Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Wednesday and submitted a requisition for the project. The association had previously asked for 50 acres in Phase 2 of the Adinarayana Hosahalli Industrial Area in Bengaluru Rural district, Sharavana said.

He said the industries department had not acted on the earlier request for land allocation or to facilitate the park. The association estimates that the proposed park could create employment for 10,000 people and generate thousands of crores of rupees in GST revenue for the state.

Shivakumar assured the delegation that land would be provided in Bengaluru South, Sharavana said. The location, extent of land and timeline for allocation are yet to be set out.
