Jewellery and watches reported stolen from Ardee City flat

Simran Verma returned from work around 6pm on Monday to find the main gate of her ground-floor flat in Ardee City’s C Block broken, police said.

Verma told police she had left for work at about 9.15am. Her husband, Harshit Singh Soni, left around 10.15am after locking the house. The couple reported that jewellery including necklaces, rings, earrings, chain pendants and bangles made of gold, diamonds, pearls and silver was missing. They estimated its value at ₹30 lakh to ₹35 lakh.

They also reported four watches valued at ₹1.25 lakh, along with Indian and foreign currency, missing from the flat.

Police deployed a dog squad and a forensic team, which collected fingerprints from the flat. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage and have questioned neighbours, who said they had not noticed suspicious sounds or movement.

Sector 53 police registered an FIR on Tuesday against unidentified people under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita provisions relating to house-breaking and theft in a dwelling house. Police are continuing their investigation.
