Kalwa 10-year-old reunited with family after travelling alone to Panvel

A 10-year-old from Kalwa Naka was reunited with his parents at Panvel City Police Station around midnight after travelling alone by local train to Panvel.

An autorickshaw driver brought the child to the station in the afternoon after he was unable to provide the address of an aunt he had hoped to visit, police said.

Police said the child was initially reluctant to speak. After officers gave him food and biscuits and spoke with him, he said he had come from Kalwa Naka. Panvel City Police coordinated with Kalwa police and circulated information through WhatsApp groups in Kalwa.

His parents saw the message at about 11 pm and contacted police. They reached Panvel City Police Station around midnight. The family told police that the child had gone out to play and that they realised he was missing after 7 pm.

Police verified the family’s identity before handing the child over to them.
