Kalyan college schedules classical dance festival at Shahad temple

Student dancers from colleges across Mumbai are scheduled to perform at Shahad’s Vitthal Temple, also known as Birla Temple, on January 12, 2027.

BK Birla College in Kalyan is organising the inter-collegiate Paramparagat Classical Dance Festival with the Nalanda Dance Research Centre. The programme will focus on Indian classical dance forms and include cash prizes for outstanding performances.

The college’s Centre for Universal Human Values is leading the initiative. At a November 4 meeting to prepare for the festival, cultural coordinators from more than 15 Mumbai colleges offered support, organisers said. The institutions represented included HR College, Hinduja College, Somaiya College, SNDT College, Thakur College and MCC College.

Participating colleges will send student performers to present classical dance forms at the Shahad venue on January 12.
