Daayra title track launched in Mumbai with Kareena Kapoor Khan, Gulzar

Kareena Kapoor Khan said sharing a stage with Gulzar at the Mumbai launch of Daayra’s title track left her nervous, calling it a significant moment in her career.

The actors and filmmakers gathered at a suburban five-star hotel on Friday to unveil *Sach Ka Daayra*. Gulzar wrote the song, B Praak performed it and Amit Trivedi composed it. Meghna Gulzar, who directs the film, joined her father, Kapoor Khan and co-star Prithviraj Sukumaran at the event.

Kapoor Khan plays Ajuni, a police officer she described as restrained. She said Meghna Gulzar’s direction required her to hold back the expressive style audiences often associate with her, and that she would arrive 30 minutes before call time for shoots.

Meghna Gulzar said the film fictionalises a story based on reality and that portraying painful events required care so that suffering was not exploited. Gulzar said he was moved when he watched the film’s first cut. *Daayra* is scheduled to release on September 18.
