Dr Yasmin Singh and her group presented ‘Divya Krishna’, a 50-minute Kathak work, at ISKCON Dwarka’s Janmashtami programme on Friday.
The performance moved through episodes from Krishna’s life, including his childhood leelas, Vrindavan, the Raas Leela, the devotion of the Gopis and parts of the Mahabharata. The dancers used abhinaya, rhythmic footwork, ghungroos and mudras to tell the stories.
Singh, a classical dancer and choreographer, said the work was devoted to Krishna. Her group performed the recital as part of the temple’s Janmashtami programme, which also included prayers, devotional music and rituals.
