Kejriwal alleges political pressure in Satyendar Jain’s Delhi Jal Board arrest

Arvind Kejriwal has alleged that Satyendar Jain’s arrest in the Delhi Jal Board case was made “under political pressure”, escalating the political fight around the former Delhi minister’s detention.

In posts on X, the AAP chief said an Anti-Corruption Branch official had told him that there was no plan to arrest Jain until Tuesday morning and that a direct call came later that afternoon. Kejriwal also questioned why Jain was not taken into police custody for questioning.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta rejected the allegation, saying Jain was involved in a Delhi Jal Board “scam” and that investigating agencies were doing their job. Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra described the Jal Board as a centre of alleged financial irregularities during the previous AAP government, while BJP MP Manoj Tiwari said evidence of a corruption-related money trail had emerged.

AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh linked the arrest to the party’s role in Punjab ahead of the 2027 Assembly election. The latest exchange follows Jain’s own claim linking the arrest to Punjab polls.
