Khumaar marks 20 years with a four-hour music evening at Shivaji Park

Nearly 500 music listeners filled Savarkar Hall at Shivaji Park on September 4 for Khumaar 2026, Bipin R Pandit’s musical evening marking its 20th consecutive year.

The programme ran for four hours and 15 minutes, moving through themed segments that included Musical Laikari and the Tanga Medley, built around Tonga-Ghoda Gaadi songs. Pandit also compèred the show with shayari, mimicry and anecdotes.

This year’s line-up added Dhanashree Deshpande and Aaroh Shankar to the Khumaar stage. Mona Prabhugaonkar, Chandrashekhar Mahamuni and Zeeshan Shaikh, performers associated with the programme over the years, also took part.

A tribute segment saw the Rafi Saab Award, instituted in memory of the late Mohammad Aziz, presented to his son Jaazib Aziz in recognition of the singer’s contribution to Indian music.
