Bengaluru North waste teams told to collect bags left outside gates

Krishna Byre Gowda told Bengaluru North City Corporation sanitation workers to collect properly segregated waste left outside residents’ gates rather than wait for households to hand it over.

The Greater Bengaluru Development Minister began an inspection of waste operations around Mallasandra at 5.30am with Bengaluru North City Corporation Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar. At the Mallasandra Auto Mustering Point in Dasarahalli division, he checked the attendance of drivers and helpers and inspected the scanning and operation of waste-collection autos.

At another mustering point, Gowda checked workers’ attendance, uniforms, gloves and working conditions, and heard grievances from pourakarmikas.

In Mallasandra and Jalahalli wards, the team reviewed household segregation of wet and dry waste, collection regularity and road cleanliness. Gowda asked residents who are away during collection hours to leave waste at a designated spot outside their gates without spilling it.

Homes without compound walls or gates were advised to use an elevated spot or wall-mounted railing so animals do not scatter the waste.

Officials were also directed to issue notices to owners of unclean vacant sites and have the sites cleaned.
