Kritika Kamra calls her Mumbai rental the ‘house of my 30s’

Kritika Kamra’s Mumbai rental is her “house of my 30s” — a place she wanted to keep separate from the trailers, sets and dressing-room lights of her acting work.

The actor retained the higher-floor apartment for its natural light and location near her shoots and offices. She reworked it with beige and white living-room tones, vintage-style furniture and a grid wall of hand-dyed Chanderi textiles from Cinnabar, the handloom label she founded during the lockdown.

“I may be an actor, but I didn’t want my posters and pictures splayed across the walls,” Kamra said. “I spend so much time in trailers that I needed this house to be my homely oasis.”

Pastel blue walls, an ivory bench and a fluted-marble round table define the dining nook. An expanded kitchen window and arch create a coffee corner with red-and-orange bar chairs. The guest room is pared back in mint blue, while the media room uses art prints, chequered details and geometric patterns as a setting for her digital content.
