Kunal Kamra asks Mumbai Police about protection for proposed indoor show

Kunal Kamra has asked Mumbai Police whether it will protect a proposed indoor stand-up performance if protesters attempt to disrupt it or damage the venue.

In a post tagging the police, Kamra said the show would be held for 100 consenting adults at an indoor venue and would comply with applicable laws and regulations. He asked whether people arriving to cancel or disrupt the performance would be allowed to exercise a “veto”.

Kamra’s last major Mumbai performance, his 2025 show *Naya Bharat* at The Habitat comedy club in Khar, drew protests by Shiv Sena workers after clips from the set circulated. The venue was vandalised, and BMC later took demolition action at the building.

The set included a parody referring to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde as a traitor and jokes about political developments including splits in the Shiv Sena and NCP. Kamra also faces a breach-of-privilege motion moved by BJP MLC Pravin Darekar.

No date or venue for the proposed performance has been announced.
