Laser beams and distracting lights barred within 27km of Noida airport

Laser beams and artificial lights that could distract pilots are now prohibited within 27km of Noida International Airport without permission.

District magistrate Medha Roopam said the restriction covers lighting that may interfere with aircraft operations, particularly during take-off, landing and flights near the airport. The order cites the Aircraft Act, 2024, Aircraft Rules, 1937, and a Ministry of Civil Aviation notification.

Residents, event organisers, commercial establishments and other entities within the designated area have been asked to comply. That includes lighting used for celebrations, displays and events if it could affect aviation safety.

Roopam said using lasers or other restricted artificial lights in the zone without permission violates aviation-safety regulations and can lead to strict legal action. The administration has appealed for public cooperation so that light displays do not compromise aircraft or passenger safety.
