Laxmi Nagar’s Ganpati pandal marks 25 years with an India-at-2047 theme

A three-foot Ganesh idol, a BrahMos missile tableau and a plan to reuse visarjan water for plants will shape this year’s 25th-anniversary celebrations at Shree Ganesh Sewa Mandal’s DDA-ground pandal in Laxmi Nagar.

The mandal’s theme, “Vighnaharta Se Vikaskarta Tak”, looks towards India’s 2047 ambitions. Its display is set to include a Vande Bharat train, space-science achievements, Digital India, AI and robotics. Organisers expect about 4,000 visitors a day. Mandal president Anand Goel said the small idol will be used for puja and visarjan, with the water poured onto plants rather than into the Yamuna.

In Shashi Garden, Mayur Vihar, organisers are preparing a fifth-year puja with 50 child volunteers. A six-year-old participant has saved Rs 300 each month in a gullak to contribute. Pandals in Ramesh Nagar, Pitampura and Dwarka are also in their final round of decoration and sound checks.

At Maharashtra Bhawan, the 30th-year celebrations will include performances by artistes from Maharashtra, along with stalls for Maharashtrian food and traditional products. Ganeshotsav pandals in Laxmi Nagar and Pitampura are scheduled to open on September 14.
