Low-pressure water supply hits parts of Noida and Greater Noida

Water taps ran weak in parts of Noida and Greater Noida on Wednesday, with residents reporting supply for only about an hour instead of three hours. Some residents also raised concerns about water quality.

The affected areas included Sectors 100, 51 and 27 in Noida; Beta 2, Alpha and Delta in Greater Noida; and parts of Greater Noida West. Residents said the disruption has made routine household work difficult and that water-quality concerns have persisted for several days.

At Mahagun Mywoods in Greater Noida West, the apartment owners’ association said the society needs around 20 lakh litres of water a day but receives 3 lakh to 4 lakh litres through the supply network. Borewells and tankers are being used for the remainder. Residents said the shortfall is sharper on weekends, when demand rises.

Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority manager Gaurav Baghel said work was under way on a permanent solution. Residents have sought replacement of old and dysfunctional pipelines, saying temporary measures have not restored reliable supply.
