Madhuban Chowk skywalk and foot overbridge are 60% complete, PWD says

Around 60% of the Madhuban Chowk skywalk and foot overbridge project is complete, with the Public Works Department setting November 30, 2026, as its target for full completion.

The ₹9.62 crore project runs along the Outer Ring Road and is planned as a grade-separated walking link between Pitampura Metro Station, Madhuban Chowk Metro Station and Rohini District Court. For commuters and court visitors, it is intended to make the transfer and final stretch on foot safer at the busy junction.

Madhuban Chowk Metro Station opened in February, creating a need for a more direct pedestrian connection around the intersection. Officials expect the structure to reduce conflicts between pedestrians and vehicles and help traffic move more smoothly on the Outer Ring Road.

Chief minister Rekha Gupta said the skywalk would improve metro access and last-mile connectivity for nearby destinations, including the district court. The project’s usefulness will also depend on its upkeep: Sarika Panda Bhatt of the Raahgiri Foundation noted that lifts, escalators and other facilities at foot overbridges need to remain functional for such infrastructure to serve pedestrians.

PWD expects the skywalk and foot overbridge to be ready by November 30.
