Maharashtra to deploy senior officials for four-day school inspections

Senior education department officials will spend four days visiting schools in districts assigned to them under Maharashtra’s new ‘Chala Shalet Jauya’ campaign.

Education Minister Dada Bhuse announced the drive in Mumbai after a workshop for senior department officials. He said decisions made in government offices should be reflected in classrooms and in students’ progress.

Officials will examine school buildings, campus cleanliness, drinking water, toilets, teaching standards and students’ needs. The department will also review foundational learning from Balvatika to Class 3, including reading, writing and basic arithmetic.

Bhuse asked officials to act against poor-quality supplies or irregularities in student services such as mid-day meals and uniforms. The state also plans meetings with school management committees, asking them to use their existing responsibilities in school development.

The department has yet to announce the inspection schedule and process.
