Actor Mahima Makwana says she makes time for Mandi House’s theatre circuit and Triveni Kala Sangam’s palak patta chaat whenever she is in Delhi.
Actor Mahima Makwana names Mandi House theatres, Triveni Kala Sangam’s palak patta chaat and Bengali Market gol gappe among her Delhi stops.
Mahima Makwana’s preferred Delhi itinerary begins around Mandi House, where she says she looks for a play, an exhibition or simply time amid the neighbourhood’s arts institutions.
The actor counts Sri Ram Centre, Triveni Kala Sangam, Kamani Auditorium and the Little Theatre Group auditorium among her favourite places in the area. She also points to the National School of Drama as part of what makes the neighbourhood special, describing Mandi House as a place where she can “soak in some artsy vibes and grab a play”.
Food is the other fixed stop. Makwana says she seeks out Dilli ki chaat even during a short stopover, with Bengali Market’s gol gappe among her favourites.
Her first choice, though, is the palak patta chaat at Triveni Kala Sangam. She first tried it on a friend’s recommendation a few years ago and says she now checks whether she can fit in a plate each time she visits Delhi.
