Man sleeping beside SV Road in Dahisar dies after truck runs over him

Manjit Yadav, 23, was sleeping under a tree near Virani Compound on SV Road in Dahisar East when an Eicher truck allegedly ran over him on Thursday night.

Yadav had gone to meet his sister, Shobha Yadav, at about 10pm, his uncle Mahesh Yadav said. Around 11pm, Mahesh received a call saying his nephew had met with an accident near the petrol pump at Virani Compound.

Police said the truck driver was moving the vehicle back and forth when it ran over Yadav. He was taken to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital in Kandivali West, where doctors declared him dead on arrival at 11.10pm.

Dahisar police arrested the driver, identified as 51-year-old Dhruvchand Chaudhary. He has been booked under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which concerns causing death by negligence, and relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
