Master Plan 2047 proposes four high-speed links across Delhi-NCR

Motorists travelling between Delhi and neighbouring NCR cities could eventually get four new high-speed corridors under the Delhi Master Plan 2047.

One proposal would extend Urban Extension Road-I from NH-1 GT Road towards the Ghaziabad-Loni-Baghpat Expressway, offering travellers from Sonipat, Narela and Bawana another route towards Ghaziabad and Uttar Pradesh. The plan says this could ease pressure on the Inner and Outer Ring Roads, Signature Bridge and Wazirabad Bridge.

Another proposed link would extend Urban Extension Road-II from the NH-8 and Dwarka area towards the Greater Noida Expressway and Noida International Airport, creating a road connection between IGI Airport and Jewar. A separate corridor is proposed between Dwarka Sector 21 and HUDA City Centre in Gurugram, while a Dwarka-Jhajjar route is also planned near AIIMS Jhajjar.

The wider strategy is to let cross-border traffic bypass congested central parts of Delhi through ring roads and link corridors. The master plan also proposes congestion charges for traffic moving between Delhi and neighbouring cities including Noida and Ghaziabad.
