Max opens 400-bed Saket tower, taking campus capacity to 1,200

Union home minister Amit Shah inaugurated a 400-bed tower at Max Smart Super Specialty Hospital in Saket, increasing the integrated campus’s capacity to around 1,200 beds.

Max Healthcare said the expansion makes the Saket facility Delhi’s largest private hospital by bed capacity. Shah said the hospital chain had provided free medical care worth Rs 244 crore to 3.60 lakh people in the previous year.

Abhay Soi, Max Healthcare’s chairperson and managing director, said Delhi-NCR has fewer than 10,000 private-sector hospital beds and may need about 40,000 over the next 15 years. The company plans to grow its overall capacity from around 6,000 beds to more than 10,000, investing over Rs 6,000 crore.

Soi said patients from outside Delhi account for around 45% of Max’s Delhi business, while international patients make up about 9%. Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta, health minister Pankaj Kumar Singh and South Delhi MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri attended the inauguration.
