MCA seeks BCCI clearance to film Mumbai’s 2026-27 domestic season

Mumbai’s senior men’s cricket team could be followed by cameras through its 2026-27 domestic campaign, with the Mumbai Cricket Association seeking BCCI approval for a behind-the-scenes series.

The proposed project would cover the team’s Ranji Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy campaigns. MCA president Ajinkya Naik said the final format—whether a web series or documentary—will be decided as the project progresses.

The association wants to record preparations from the first day through to the final match of the season, while tracing the legacy of Mumbai’s 42 Ranji Trophy titles. Naik said the series is also intended to show aspiring players the discipline, preparation, teamwork and commitment involved in professional cricket.

Siddhesh Lad will lead Mumbai in first-class matches. Their Ranji Trophy campaign is scheduled to begin against Chandigarh on October 11. Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer are expected to feature for Mumbai during the white-ball competitions.

Filming can proceed only after the BCCI grants the requested permissions.
