MCD removes temporary structures from parks around Delhi’s Jama Masjid

MCD teams began removing temporary structures from parks and other public spaces around Jama Masjid on Monday, focusing on the monument’s northern and southern sides.

The civic body said the drive followed Delhi High Court directions to survey alleged illegal construction and remove encroachments around the historic Old Delhi monument. Teams were clearing at least three parks in the area.

Senior civic officials said the structures occupied public land. Security personnel were deployed during the operation, which MCD said was carried out peacefully with the cooperation of other authorities.

Teams continued to remove debris from the sites on Monday. Residents and visitors may encounter civic activity near the affected parks and public spaces.
